I visited Ethiopia in October this year and last. Contrary to many people's idea of the country as being one of desert and famine, I found a land of quite stunning lush, green, scenery. The people were wonderfuly friendly and this is perhaps reflected in these pictures because I concentrated on images of people rather than sites and countryside. My travels took me to Lake Tanya, source of the Blue Nile, Gonder with its old castles, Lalibela with its famous churches carved out of solid rock and the Simien Mountains, a fabulous landscape with quite brilliant views. This year I traveled to the south of the country to see the amazing tribes of the lower Omo valley with their different dress and unique culture.
